Could the whole season be in the Upside Down?

A woman kidnaps her husband's mistress and tells the mistress two horror stories involving evil things. The first trailer for of Stranger Things 3 has finally arrived, and there's a ton to unpack here. Most importantly: The 'kids' aren't awkward little kids anymore. They're growing up, and as they do the threats against them seem to be getting more dangerous (Nancy's major perm notwithstanding). On July 4, Stranger Things 3 will come to Netflix, and its first chaotic trailer promises plenty of changes and new nightmares. Here's everything we spotted in the new teaser and why it's. The trailer doesn't give much away and merely confirms that a fourth season, which was teased the end of Stranger Things 3, is definitely in the works. After the last season's emotional. After a lot of speculation, it looks like the fourth season ofStranger Things is happening and that the series will leave the comfort of Hawkins, Indiana, behind.

On Monday, a new teaser for 'Stranger Things 4' was released on Twitter with the caption 'we're not in hawkins anymore.' This seems to suggest the next season will take the action outside of the familiar town of the past few seasons. The imagery of the teaser also implies that the show could go a step further and set a substantial portion of the season in the Upside Down.

In season 2, Stranger Things shook-up the formula a bit and had huge portions of Eleven's journey happen outside of Hawkins. For the most part, season 3 reversed this approach and kept the heroic kids in Hawkins. So, what 'we're not in hawkins anymore mean?' It could mean that the kids visit other cities. Or it could mean that they travel to the parallel dimension that is the Upside Down, a move that would have huge implications for the series as a whole. Here's the new teaser:

On more than one occasion, the creators of Stranger Things — the Duffer Brothers — have suggested the entire story would be told over four seasons. And along with the news of the fourth season, Netflix has also revealed that the Duffers have signed-onto a contract to create new shows beyond Stranger Things. Here's the exact quote from Netflix:

'The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we're thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love,' said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. 'We can't wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.'

So, if the Duffers will create new shows beyond Stranger Things, does that mean this is the final season for the show? With the new teaser, it seems very possible that the fourth season will be a dimension-spanning epic that will conclude the story for good. Last time around, many fans worried season 3 was going to be the end, but now, with season 4 100 percent confirmed, it seems like anything is possible.

You've already waited over a year and you have to wait another three-and-a-half months, but it's getting so tantalisingly close.

Until July 4, when the new season of Stranger Things finally hits, Netflix has released the first full trailer to feed your addiction.

It may not be the dose you desperately need, but it's better than nothing.

Returning to Hawkins, Indiana and our core gang, now expanded to six with Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will and Max, the trailer tells us what we already know to be the absolute truth: No one is safe.

These kids will not be allowed to have a normal childhood with hangs at the shopping centre and fun fairs with bright lights and rides.

The supernatural threat remains and now it looks like a massive fleshy monster with a load of teeth, spikes and bloody viscosity all over its body.

We get a much better look at the Hawkins mall where much of the action will happen, and there's a shot of Eleven and the gang sitting in either the food court or in the cinema lobby with shattered glass all around them — obviously mid or post-battle.

Scored by 'Home Sweet Home' by Mötley Crüe and 'Baba O'Reilly' by The Who, you know we're in for more 80s nostalgia — the fashion has been seriously dialled up with the 1985 time-jump, with big shoulders and giant scrunchies on display.

Also glimpsed in the trailer:

— The six kids erecting a makeshift antenna in a field Lingon x 4 2 – run applications and scripts automatically.

— Cary Elwes declaring happy Fourth of July at the fair — is he the mayor?

— Jake Busey looking deranged and sweaty

— A figure in a breathing mask, like those old-fashioned nuclear suits, being blasted by electricity bolts

— Eleven and Max indulging in some girl time

— Maya Hawke as new character Robin with Steve at an ice cream shop

— Charlie and Nancy in grown-up clothes and sitting in chairs outside an office, looking apprehensive

Things 3 8 4 Trailer Hitch

— A male figure, possibly Billy, in the shower with what looks to be a seriously infected arm

— Eleven back in that dark, wet place

— Jim Hopper waiting for his date at a restaurant

— Lots and lots of rats fleeing (never, ever a good sign)

— Eleven sitting in front of a fridge full of Eggo with a blindfold on and blood trickling from one nose

— Winona Ryder overacting.

We don't know what all this means exactly, and who are we to presume what goes through the head of the Duffer brothers?
